Sweet is something I just can’t resist! Today am sharing the recipe of a sweet dish (Indian cuisine) named ” Besan ladoo “, basically eaten as a snack or dessert. This dish is mostly prepared in all indian families during festivals, specially Diwali.
Well I am a little hesitant when trying such recipes which need practice, experience and that ‘mommy touch’. But this Diwali I thought, well no one’s gonna come for my rescue here in London, so I better try it out on own else completely remove the thought of having any sweets this festive!
So here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
– 2 cups chickpea flour/ besan / gram flour
– 3/4 cup ghee
– 1.5 cup sugar
– few cardamom pieces
step 1: roast the flour on a medium to low flame until it turns a little brownish in color. This might take 10-15 mins.
Step 2:
Grind sugar and cardamom into a fine powder and keep aside
Step 3:
Melt ghee and add it to the flour. Keep stirring and roast for another 10-15 min until you get a nutty fragrance and the ghee starts releasing
Step 4:
Once ghee starts releasing put the gas off and keep the pan aside. Let the mixture cool down a bit. After it’s cooled a little, add the powdered sugar and mix everything very nicely such that no lumps are formed.
Step 5:
Take small portion of mixture in ur hand and start binding ladoo pressing it forming a circle structure. You can garnish it with cashews or rasins.
Store these ladoos in air tight container.
P.S : This dish requires patience. Roasting flour properly is very important to get the desired taste 🙂
Happy cooking! 🙂
